Reflexology

Posted: January 25th, 2012

Reflexology is a zone specific therapy. It uses the application of pressure to the feet, hands or ears with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques using oil or lotion. The premise is that this type of specific pressure will effect a physical change in the body. A reflexology chart can be used to determine specific pressure points. The left foot or hand correlates to the left side of the body, while the right foot or hand correlates to the right side of the body. The pressure techniques to specific reflex areas reflect specific parts of the body such as the kidneys, intestines and brain.

For thousands of years, people have known the benefits of reflexology. Ancient civilizations used reflexology to bring healing to their people. Today, reflexology is practiced worldwide and is recognized for its effective healing powers. Reflexology can be prescribed by medical professionals and is covered by insurance companies in many countries.
