Detoxification and Nourishment with Algae

Skin, which is the human body's largest organ, is responsible for a variety of functions including the detoxification of impurities from within the body. Unfortunately, air and food is loaded with toxins, heavy metals and other impurities that take a toll on the body over time. Algae, whether ingested or applied topically during a spa treatment, can assist the skin in removing unwanted impurities, improve skin's texture and nourish the entire body from the inside out. Algae is often referred to as nature's most perfect food source and are one of the world's oldest organisms. It is responsible for nearly 90 percent of the world's photosynthesis, which produces oxygen-rich air. Algae is so vital to the earth, in fact, that without it there would be no sea life. This seaweed has been used for centuries in Asia to improve peoples' health and vitality, and it has slowly made its way into the U.S. in recent years in the form of nutritional supplements and as an ingredient in beauty products. A build-up of toxins in the body makes it difficult for the body to absorb vitamins and minerals. This build-up often results in sagging skin, cellulite and a general overall unhealthy or ruddy look. It can also result in lethargy and a slowing down of bodily functions. Algae contains amino acids and vitamins that draw out these unwanted impurities and allow the body to function properly. When taken as a supplement, it can boost the immune system and promote cell regrowth. Algae also contains a highly nutritive form of beta-carotene, which has been shown in several studies to fight certain types of cancer. Its benefits do not stop there, and algae and seaweed are used extensively in spa treatments for a variety of reasons. When applied topically to the skin, algae has the ability to draw out and absorb impurities from the upper layers of the dermis. It calms and relaxes the skin as it does this. It is able to tone the skin and tighten it, which reduces cellulite's appearance. The vitamins and minerals hydrate and stimulate blood flow and circulation, resulting in a healthier glow and appearance. Algae is natural and safe enough to use several times a week, as well. The benefits of algae to the whole body are far reaching. Nature's most perfect food source has the ability to improve not only the inside of the body but the outside, as well. From improved skin texture to assisting in the detox of impurities, one needs to look no further than the sea.
