Sun time is fun time. Kids are out of school, family vacations, and summer barbecues. Just get out there and enjoy the sunlight and natural vitamin D.  We must not forget that summer skin needs skin care products for protection from harmful rays.

Tips for Great Summer Skin

 

Here are some great ways to treat your skin with love and have radiant skin care all summer long.

 

Exfoliate – Exfoliating is a great way to gently rid your skin of dead cells and unclog pores. It also stimulates the lymphatic system, boosting immune function.

 

Moisturize – After exfoliating, take a refreshing shower. Moisturize with lotion or baby oil of your choice. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and takes in 60% of what you put on it. Use your favorite moisturizer for your skin type.

 

Breathe – Sounds simple right? Well it’s the easiest beauty routine of them all. Try a yoga class. Sometimes you can even find yoga on the beach classes. Don’t forget your sunscreen! Breathing deeply fully allows carbon dioxide to release from the lungs. Inhaling brings in more oxygen for the body.

 

Hydrate – Drink plenty of water. Another favorite is Aloe Vera water which has gotten popular for healing internally as well as externally. Aloe lotion is great after a sun burn. It soothes and cools sunburned skin better than any other lotion, in my opinion. We sweat a lot in the summer so it’s very important to stay hydrated and replenish moisture

 

Avoid tanning beds – It’s no secret that tanning beds are linked to cancer and very unsafe. Some of you are tempted to use tanning beds in between tans when fading. Please don’t do it.  If you really want summer skin color, try a self tanning lotion.  Be sure to read the ingredients carefully.

 

Sleep – It’s great to be out and about having summer fun, but don’t neglect your sleep. The lack of sleep leads to increased levels of the stress hormone Cortisol, which causes belly fat. This also slows the production of collagen in the skin. When the skin stops producing collagen, it loses elasticity and looks tired and worn. That’s not pretty right? So catch your Zzzzz’s.
