Skin Care After Waxing

Waxing is a more popular beauty treatment now than ever before. Not only are women taking advantage of waxing these days, but men also are enjoying its ability to remove unwanted body hair. Unfortunately, waxing can irritate the skin, leaving it a bit sensitive after waxing.

If you are suffering from sensitive skin after a wax, there are some things you can do to soothe it. The first thing you should do is to ice your skin after your waxing session. This will reduce the swelling and inflammation that can often occur after a wax.

After you have iced the area for around 20 minutes, you should apply a hydrocortisone cream to the area. This will kill any bacteria that are on your skin, reducing the chances of an infection. It will also help to prevent your skin from breaking out after a wax.

One of the major problems that people suffer after a wax is the appearance of red bumps on the skin. These red pumps are caused by clogged pores and ingrown hairs. The best way to deal with both of these problems is to exfoliate your skin.

Your freshly waxed skin will usually be highly sensitive for a few days after the treatment. The best way to help this go away it to apply aloe vera gel and tea tree oil to the affected area. These products will reduce the sensitivity and help your skin to heal from the trauma of the wax as fast as possible.

As well as applying these treatments, you need to avoid heat and sunlight for at least 48 hours after a waxing session. These elements will aggravate your already sensitive skin, which will lead to increased pain and a longer recovery time. Follow this advice, and your smoothly waxed skin will be healed in no time.
