Fall Tips to Prevent Dry Skin

17 Oct Posted by in Blog, Massage, Skincare | Comments Off on Fall Tips to Prevent Dry Skin
As the seasons change and the temperatures drop, your skin may begin to feel dry, itchy and uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are few methods you can use to moisturize and protect your skin during the fall and winter. Read ahead for some excellent ways to help promote healthy skin by changing your daily habits.

Change Your Washing Habits

During the fall and winter, you may need to change the soap you use for bathing and for washing your hands. Some soaps dry out your skin more than others. A soap bar or body wash that contains shea butter will usually help to moisturize your skin. Hot water drastically removes the natural moisturizers from your skin, so try to use lukewarm water when you take a shower. If you must use hot water, you should aim to take a brief shower.
After you take a shower or bath, you should immediately return healthy moisture to your skin by using a moisturizer.

Eat Healthy

Changing your diet can help you get healthy skin. Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables to boost your skin’s natural moisture. Although you may not feel thirsty during the fall and winter, keep drinking water frequently. If possible, avoid coffee as caffeine can dry out your skin.

Try a Humidifier

If you live in a dry area, such as a desert, investing in a humidifier may help boost your skin’s health. A humidifier can also replace the moisture that your furnace removes from your home’s air.

Protect Yourself

Each time you go outside, remember to wear a pair of gloves, a scarf and a hat. Taking these precautions will keep your skin warm. Additionally, protecting your skin from the cold fall and winter winds can help your skin stay hydrated.
